Two EO Members Share Air Time on CNBC's "The Big Idea"
On 1 July - EO members Kendra Scott (EO Austin) and David Lakhani (EO Idaho) made a special appearance on CNBC's popular business television program,
"The Big Idea," hosted by Donny Deutsch.
The daily show, which emphasizes lessons learned, business news and tips on achieving professional excellence, routinely recruits industry experts to discuss a variety of business-related topics. The 1 July episode, titled "The Art of Selling," highlighted the importance of selling yourself and pursuing your passion.
Among other noteworthy guests, Scott, Founder of
Kendra Scott Jewelry, discussed her amazing rise to success and the steps she took to build a multimillion-dollar company from only US$500. Having no sales experience when she started, Scott succesffuly created a brand that embodies her charm and emphasizes customer service. She also touched on the far-reaching affects of sincerity, selling yourself to customers and building a brand.
Lakhani, author of
"Persuasion: The Art of Getting What You Want," spoke at length about the importance of perusasion and being honest when working with customers. He went on to discuss the importance of impressions and staying genuine when building new relationships.
"The show was very productive for me as a credibility building tool, as that show is seen as the pinnacle of business shows for entrepreneurs ,which is the market I serve," said Lakhani.
"The big takeaway for me is that while television is losing some of its viewership to new media, it is still one of the strongest credibility builders any business can leverage. Public relations is still one of the most persuasive marketing tools any business can use."
