
JOAQUIN CORDERO

Joaquín ('Quini') Cordero is a passionate entrepreneur with a foundation in Business Administration from Tec de Monterrey and EO’s Entrepreneurial Master’s Program, hosted at M.I.T. 's Endicott House. With more than 22 years of experience, he has successfully established eleven startups with some expanding to 12 countries. His most notable ventures include Lumen, Beitá Building, 6 Amigos Investment Fund, and Kinimovil, with operations spanning sectors diverse such as advertising, technology, marketing, and digital solutions.
In 2009, Joaquin founded Lumen, driven by the purpose of creating impactful communication teams. With operations across Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras, Lumen delivers comprehensive advertising solutions to global brands in the Latin American market. As the company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), his focus is on fostering a robust corporate culture that enhances productivity, and drives the creation of innovative and disruptive strategies.
Joaquin additionally co-founded and exited a technology content monetization company, collaborating with over 20 telecoms in over a dozen countries during 13 years. He has contributed to executing Data Center (Tyer 3) projects, and as co-founder of Guatemalan investment fund, 6 Amigos, he invested in ventures like Yalo, Byond (Virtual Reality), and the revitalization of the multi purpose Beitá Building in Guatemala’s Historic Center. Joaquin also served as CEO of a communications group that managed diverse ventures, including a national TV channel, cable ads, advertising, films, and public relations.
A dedicated member of EO, Joaquin led its EO Guatemala chapter as President, served in many other local leadership positions for more than 13 years, and was a driving force behind EO's growth and impact in the LAC region as Regional Chair. He co-founded EO’s School of Presidents for chapter leaders in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) region, which has since prepared three classes of incoming chapter presidents and expanded to U.S. East and the MEPA (Middle East, Pakistan and Africa) region. He co-chaired three LACademy regional events, and one Regional Leadership Academy in Machu Picchu. In July 2023, he joined EO’s global board for a three-year term as director, later serving as chair-elect during FY2024/2025.
Through Lumen Podcast, he offers insights from successful leaders, and as a speaker, he has been invited to international events focusing on entrepreneurship, leadership, and intentional living. He continues to inspire entrepreneurs by challenging them to live a purposeful life and to keep evolving personally and professionally.
A passionate adventurer, Joaquin has tackled challenging rock climbing routes on four continents, competed in enduro dirt bike races, and participated in endurance sports such as 10K open-water swimming. He lives in Guatemala City with his wife, daughter and two adopted dogs.
