About EO Tanzania

About EO Tanzania

Tanzania is a land of opportunity—in its people, its resources, and its entrepreneurial spirit. From the fast-growing cityscape of Dar es Salaam to the innovation hubs emerging in Arusha and beyond, a new generation of founders is transforming the country’s economic future. At EO Tanzania, we are those leaders—driven by purpose, rooted in community, and committed to building resilient, impactful businesses. Our members operate across a range of industries that power Tanzania’s dynamic economy: agriculture, logistics, tourism, manufacturing, education, renewable energy, healthcare, real estate, and technology. Some are digitizing legacy industries; others are launching ventures that address critical needs with scalable solutions. What connects us is our belief that entrepreneurship can uplift not just our businesses—but our country. EO Tanzania offers a trusted space where entrepreneurs connect with intention. Our confidential forums provide a place to discuss the realities of leadership in high-growth, often unpredictable environments. These peer-to-peer relationships foster clarity, strength, and accountability—fueling both personal and business transformation. Our learning events bring global perspectives into local context. Whether it’s navigating scale in emerging markets, leading through economic shifts, or building cross-cultural teams, members gain tools and insights that help them lead with confidence and adaptability. Doing business in Tanzania requires more than vision—it demands agility, perseverance, and deep cultural understanding. EO Tanzania supports founders in navigating those complexities, while also providing a gateway to EO’s global community of entrepreneurs. We are deeply committed to impact. Many of our members are actively involved in social innovation, mentorship, and sustainable development—knowing that strong businesses can strengthen communities. At EO Tanzania, we grow with purpose, lead with resilience, and build ventures that reflect the promise, pride, and potential of one of Africa’s most inspiring nations.

EO has given me something I did not realize I was missing: a community of people who understand the entrepreneurial journey from the inside. Being surrounded by fellow entrepreneurs has given me a space where I can be open about the challenges, celebrate the wins, and learn from experiences that are very different from my own. What I value most is the depth of the relationships. EO is not simply about expanding your network. It is about finding people you can trust, learn from, and grow alongside. Through Forum and the wider EO community, I have gained new perspectives on business, leadership, and life. I have also been reminded that entrepreneurship does not have to be a lonely journey. For me, EO Tanzania is a community where we challenge each other, support each other, and grow together

This experience and other meaningful EO events allows me to want more for myself and to be vulnerable as a leader. Trust is the foundation of running and scaling a business, and this experience showed me how to trust myself and the people around me. It made me reevaluate how I was responsible for the progress of my team members, what I was holding back that was impacting their growth, and ultimately, my own growth.

Since joining EO in July 2016, and spending much of that time serving in leadership, I have learnt that the more you give to EO, the more it gives back to you. EO has stretched my thinking, strengthened my leadership and most importantly, shaped me as a person. I am deeply grateful for the global friendships, learning and opportunities to serve that continue to make this community such an important part of my journey.

When I joined EO Tanzania in early 2019, I was doing fine on paper but felt very much alone in my role. Nobody around me understood the decisions that kept me awake at night. EO gave me a room full of people who did. What came next surprised me. I stepped out of my shell. I learned to stand on a stage and present material that actually lands. I took what I used the experiences I gained in EO and rebuilt my own company's governance around them, my management meetings now run with a clarity that neither I or my team thought possible. Almost 8 years on, I've just been honored in the selection to become the Regional Chair-Elect. But the title isn't the story. The story is that EO changed the way I see business, the way my peers see me, my presence as a husband / father and added genuine friends on nearly every continent who will pick up the phone at any hour. If you're building something significant and carrying it alone, you don't have to, you are not aone, the EO community is there for you.
