David and his brother created College Cup to help student athletes from Central American countries to obtain sports scholarships in US universities, thereby enabling them gain access to higher education of first world quality. His vision is to be a reference entity in Central America for obtaining sports scholarships at US universities and to venture into at least two additional sports disciplines, possibly volleyball and tennis, to complement existing football and basketball. In their early stage, David and his team found it difficult to obtain sponsorship opportunities. Schools also opted out of participating, even though the competition was free, because they did not believe in the potential of the business. David wants to Make a Mark through College Cup by contributing to the development of his country through sports and education. “Over the years I have seen a huge amount of young people with admirable sporting talent. But with the lack of opportunities in the country, they end up derailing and some do not even complete their university studies. I love the idea of ​​being remembered as someone who fought for opportunities for young people.” Aside from running his business, David also considers himself awesome because he holds a full-time job as a manager of projects at FUNDES, a consultancy organization for the development of micro, small and Medium-sized company in Latin America, and is a father of a 5-month old son.
