Sponge Education is an in-home, one-on-one tutoring service for primary and secondary school students. Through Sponge Education, Sarah and her team aim to improve the academic performance of students, whilst helping them to maintain physical and mental health & wellbeing. To cope effectively with the demands of work, Sarah is deliberate about balancing taking time to rest. She believes that this balance helped her to overcome her battle with anorexia and depression and makes her an effective entrepreneur. Her personal battle with mental illness has strengthened the value of her work, enabling her to cultivate a supportive team and to keep her passion burning for her business. “Starting up a business (and maintaining it) takes lots of hard work. The key is to find joy in it, which I certainly have. I learned that when people feel safe, secure, and valued at work, they will always work better, and they will feel happier too. As a result, Sponge really is a business focusing on people.”
