Entrepreneurs’ Organization Welcomes New Chairman
Technology and financial services entrepreneur-investor Marc Stöckli is appointed chairman of global network after 14 years of active membership
Alexandria, Virginia, USA (1 July 2022) – Today, the Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO), welcomes Swiss business leader Marc O. Stöckli as its new Chairman for the non-for-profit network’s Board of Directors, after 14 years of active membership in the global network.
A long-time entrepreneur and investor, Stöckli joined EO in 2008 and has since been involved in various leadership positions, including EO Zurich Chapter President and Global Strategic Alliances Committee Chair. For the past year, he has served as the organization’s Chair-Elect, alongside outgoing Chair, David Anderson.
Stöckli brings to the role a shrewd business mind underpinned by core personal values of universal growth and positive, long-term impact, plus more than 20 years of experience in the tech and financial sector. The EO core value he feels most aligned to is the organization’s ‘Thirst for Learning’, describing himself as a sponge for new insights and new perspectives.
Stöckli’s entrepreneurial journey began in 2000 with the launch of Totemo, a successful cyber-security firm that he built into a global proposition before selling to dedicate himself to supporting the next generation of business leaders. An active investor, board member and entrepreneurial coach, he now mentors a number of businesses, including Vara, which uses machine learning to make breast cancer screening affordable for every woman, and Beekeeper, the fast-growing market leader in frontline-worker communication. He also serves as trusted counsel to the founders of Merantix, a Berlin-based, leading Artificial Intelligence studio in Europe, Cleanhub, a company protecting the oceans from plastic pollution with software-enabled tracking, and Mika, a DTx app empowering people affected by cancer.
Stöckli earned an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and has served as president of the Wharton Alumni Club of Switzerland for nearly 20 years. An accomplished mountain climber and father of two who fluently speaks Swiss, German, English and French, as well as conversational Spanish and Japanese, Stöckli is a passionate advocate for entrepreneurs learning and using their energy and skills for greater good.
“We believe that we can move the world forward by unlocking the full potential of entrepreneurs. By unleashing whatever perceived barriers or gaps may be holding us back from applying our full talents and tenacity, we can create opportunities for others, and leave the world a better place. This is our shared purpose.”
“Marc brings the ability to take complex issues, analyze them and work as a team to strategically make changes to move the organization forward. His depth of experience as a corporate consultant is an additional big plus for EO’s diverse membership,” said outgoing EO Chair and Stöckli’s predecessor, David Anderson.
Dr. Carrie Santos, CEO of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization, says: “We are thrilled to welcome Marc to the Board as Chairman. His extensive experience, entrepreneurial knowledge, and commitment to the idea of scaling trust across industries, borders and cultures will be invaluable to the further development of EO and its members. We look forward to working with Marc to create new possibilities for business owners and the families and communities they support.”
In his new role, which spans the FY2022/2023 fiscal year through next June, Stöckli and EO’s Board —successful entrepreneurs themselves— will continue the transformational work that Anderson began, to position the network for exponential growth over the next 10 years.
Stöckli added: “EO’ers are transformational leaders. It is not in our nature to focus on incremental growth, or to be distracted by the minutiae of market constraints, negativity, or how it has always been done. Entrepreneurs’ Organization can and should be at the center of the global entrepreneurial ecosystem; the flywheel for entrepreneurial impact. We can make a positive difference in millions of people’s lives, including our own.”
In addition to Stöckli’s elevation as Chairman, the EO Board also welcomes four newly elected Directors: Jamie Pujara of EO Kenya, Julie Vergara of EO Philippines South, Chang Ng of EO Netherlands and David Nilssen of EO Seattle.
