Global network for entrepreneurs elevates Guatemalan business owner Joaquín Cordero to Global Board Chair and appoints Kenyan member-leader Jamie Pujara as Interim Executive Director

Alexandria, Virginia, USA (15 May 2025) – The Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO), a leading organization for entrepreneurs and business owners worldwide, announces the elevation of Joaquin Cordero as its new Global Board Chair. Cordero, a 14-year member of EO through its chapter in Guatemala, will serve as the global community’s top leader and representative for nearly 20,000 members who own businesses and drive economic growth in close to 100 countries across six continents. EO also named 11-year member and outgoing Global Board Chair Jamie Pujara as its Interim Executive Director overseeing the network’s nonprofit organization, which creates and delivers products and experiences for members around the world. Both appointments were effective 15 May 2025.

The 47-year-old Cordero, who also goes by the name ‘Quini’, is the 20th Global Board Chair in the organization’s nearly 38-year history. He is the first from Central America, the first from Guatemala, and only the second to lead EO from a Latin American nation. Cordero’s company, Lumen, has operations in Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras, delivering comprehensive advertising solutions to global brands across the Latin American market. He is fluent in Spanish and English and was chosen as EO’s Chair-Elect by his peers in the Global Board last July.

“I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to continue serving our global EO community in this new leadership role,” said Cordero. “In the year ahead, I remain committed to continuing to build bridges of trust across our community, knowing that trust raises the ground upon which we all stand.”

An EO member and volunteer leader in the organization since 2012, Cordero’s rise in EO has personified what the membership network offers business owners from all countries and sectors: learning, training, and hands-on leadership experience leading fellow leaders in progressively higher positions of influence. Shortly after becoming a member of EO Guatemala, he embarked on his EO Path of Leadership, first serving in his local chapter’s board roles before rising to the position of that chapter’s president (2015/2016). He later advanced to global committee roles and regional leadership positions, becoming Regional Chair for EO’s Latin America and Caribbean Region in 2021/2022.

Cordero has also capitalized on many opportunities for personal and business development, graduating from EO’s prestigious Entrepreneurial Master’s Program at M.I.T.’s Endicott House (2013-2015), EO’s Global Leadership Academy in 2015, and its Regional Leadership Academy in 2022. He co-founded a leadership summit for the Latin America and Caribbean Region called The School of Presidents, which brings the region’s 23 chapter presidents together for training, connection, and community building each year. He is based in Guatemala City.

“Quini’s leadership style combines authenticity, inspiration, and care. He is the ideal leader for EO as we continue to scale our impact around the world,” explained Rom LaPointe, a peer and fellow member of the organization’s Global Board and a 19-year EO member through its chapter in Detroit, U.S. “Quini has gifts and intentionally developed skills in creating teams that put people and culture first. This provides clarity around the world of EO as we drive our strategic initiatives.”

Partnering with Cordero will be Jamie Pujara as the organization’s new Interim Executive Director, who will lead a professional team of nearly 160 full-time staff across 20 countries and an estimated operating budget next fiscal year of US$75 million. A versatile and award-winning entrepreneur with a foundation in family business ownership and ventures across online real estate listings and commercial development, Pujara completes his three-year board service and position as Global Board Chair. He initially joined EO’s Global Board as a director in July 2022 after active participation as a member, local chapter officer, and regional leader. Pujara also led EO Kenya as president in 2017-2018, before becoming regional chair for EO’s chapters in the Middle East, Pakistan, and Africa (MEPA).

“EO has been a transformative part of my life, helping me grow as an entrepreneur and as a leader”, explained Pujara. “As I step into this role, my focus is on driving us towards our strategic direction, ensuring that both our professional staff and member leaders are aligned and empowered to achieve our goals. With over a decade of experience within EO, I have seen firsthand the incredible impact of this community and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue serving this incredible organization.”

Born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya to a family of Indian and Chinese descent, Pujara and his wife Clara, a professional with the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees, have two young sons and split their time between Geneva and Nairobi.

Fellow Global Board Director and 25-year EO member from the Philippines Julie Vergara voiced confidence in the new organizational leader, saying, “I have known Jamie for years through the EO Path of Leadership. It has been an honor to work closely with him during our term on the Global Board. Jamie truly exemplifies Servant Leadership — balancing strength with compassion, ambition for the organization with sound governance and authority with humility. I am deeply grateful that he accepted the role of EO’s interim Executive Director.”

EO’s diverse community of members belong to the global network through one or more of its 220 chapters worldwide. To join, entrepreneurs must own businesses with at least US$1 million in annual revenue or own significant investment in larger companies. Pujara will collaborate alongside EO’s international team of member leaders and professional staff to continue driving progress toward its 2030 strategic vision, while increasing visibility for EO’s brand and value for entrepreneurs at every stage of their journey.

Cordero added, “With our professional staff and the passion of our member leaders, I am confident this will be a year of meaningful progress and impact for our 20,000-member EO global family.”
