Forum Seed Moderators

Supporting the formation of new Forums

A Seed Moderator is an experienced EO member trained to help launch and guide a new Forum during its first months. They temporarily moderate a newly formed Forum to help it start strong and follow EO Forum best practices. Their role is to ensure the group builds the right culture and structure from the beginning. Once the group is comfortable with the structure, members select a permanent Moderator from within the group.

Responsibilities

Seed Moderators guide the first meetings of a newly formed Forum. They help:

1. Facilitate the first Forum meetings

They moderate the initial meetings (typically the first 3–6 months) to establish strong Forum habits.

2. Implement EO Forum best practices

They guide the group on:

  • Forum structure
  • Meeting format
  • Deep sharing and vulnerability
  • Experience sharing vs. advice giving
  • Confidentiality and trust
3. Train the future Forum Moderator

While moderating, they mentor a member of the new Forum who will become the long-term moderator.

4. Help create a safe space

They ensure the Forum builds a safe, confidential environment where members feel comfortable sharing openly.
